3 BAXI Power HT+ 150kW boilers were supplied by HydroHeat to provide the heating requirements for a Performing Arts Theatre at a Melbourne Secondary College.
The three BAXI PHT+ 1.150 Outdoor boilers provided a total capcity of 450kW, replacing the single old atmospheric type boiler which was installed to the rooftop plant. The new system was fully modulated with cascade controls, and connected to the Building Management System (BMS). The boilers were supplied together with system equipment for the installation, with final commissioning being undertaken by HydroHeat.
Interestingly the system had to pump water up to a height of about 15 metres to the fan cooler unit in the theatre. To achieve the required water pressure (about 3.5 bar static pressure) to get up to the height high pressure Grundfos pumps were used.
The newly installed Baxi Condensing boilers bring about 20% energy savings compared to the older style Atmospheric boiler they have replaced. Further gains of up to 30% are attained when operating in cascade and standby mode, also yielding a saving of up to 90% in Co2 emissions achieved through the condensing boiler technology.
